Crowdfunding changed the landscape of raising funds forever. But with time, we have learned its inefficiencies. Mainly, having a middle man, high fees and lack of backer protection. Existing crowdfunding platforms mostly operate on a dozen or so countries. And only benefits those with bank accounts, excluding not only the international community, but also the unbanked. With the advent of blockchain technology, we can now rely on superior technology for crowdfunding that not only serves the fundraiser but also the donors. Creating more trust through transparency and accountability.
Why is blockchain necessary for crowdfunding? Blockchain ushered in the age of trustless digital domain, whereby you do not need to trust each other or a third party authority to transact or transfer, whether its data or something of value. This has brought tremendous value for the digital world, and for the first time, we have created tamper-evident transparency. Ethereum smart contracts or in other words āexecutable programā allow for a predefined set of criteria to be programmed within each contract which then acts as the enforcer. This ensures that fundraisers only get donations when a certain milestone has been reached. As a result, bringing more accountability and backer protection in the space.
Thatās why we created Ullu. Ullu is being built on the Ethereum Network and will use smart contracts to manage and enforce the criteria for each donation. Building on a decentralized network means Ullu doesnāt have to rely on any platform to enable creators to raise funds. A first of its kind crowdfunding platform that harnesses the power of blockchain to establish digital trust. Smart contract is a protocol intended to digitally facilitate, verify or enforce the negotiation or performance of a contract. This eliminates the need for a third-party facilitator. Smart contracts can only be fulfilled after the execution of a preceding step. This ensures that the donor only pays when predetermined milestones have been accomplished. On our platform, money can be tracked, individuals and organizations can be held accountable, optimizing the social impact of donations worldwide. We empower donors to track the impact of their money, by leveraging the speed and reach of cryptocurrency and the security of blockchain, we are creating a global āgivingā community that is not only data friendly and scalable but aids the unbanked and geographically excluded.
We will have a voting system that allows participants to vote for crowdfunding campaigns, and to ensure donor satisfaction, if most of the participants feel that a certain campaign is not reaching milestones, they will get auto refund. No longer will you be excluded from centralized platforms because you donāt have access to a bank account. On Ullu, you can create campaigns from anywhere in the world, and receive donations from a number of cryptocurrencies Ullu platform supports. Ullu will carefully screen every campaign and verify the ones that meet our standards. Fundraisers will also have the option of importing campaigns manually.
Ullu platform will be powered by an ERC-20 Token to facilitate smoother operations and better utility. Users can earn Ullu through Ullu app, through donations or from their own campaigns. Donors will enjoy 0 fees when donating with Ulluās native token, helping fundraisers get every dollar they are donated and reduce their cost. This also helps fundraisers use the money otherwise paid to banking and platform fees towards their project goals instead. Earned Ulluās can either be traded on exchanges or be used for future donations.
