I usually see people playing assassins like khazix, yasuo, zed etc but they do not know their damage output.
This leads to a non ideal playstyle where players will miss opportunities to kill while in lane or teamfights.
My advice is to pick an assassin you like, queue up for a normal game and repeatedly go in after you have a power spike.
While doing this, take into account your items and if they have armour or mr. This allows you to understand your general damage.
Through repeatedly doing this you will be able to identify when you have lethal.
This does not only apply to assassins but all champions.
For example if you enjoy playing irelia top. Try going all in at level 4. How much damage did the enemy do? how much did you do?
After you get your sheen and ulti, fight again and see your damage output vs theirs.
After multiple games of going ham you will understand your champion to a higher degree.
This means that you can play safe, identify a mistake from your opponent and punish them. Or poke them to a hp% where you know from experience that you will win that fight.
Instead of calculating damage output theoretically it is useful to learn it ingame.
After learning your damage you can take this to rank and enjoy killing people who think they are safe in lane
