Hello all!
I can believe that I somehow skipped over this introduction forum, but a friendly forum member sent me the link.
Anyway… I’m not your typical kind of person to join sites like this. I really don’t have a title at my work, but I guess I fall under the sysadmin role, but since I don’t have much experience (or degree,) I guess I could say I’m a jr sysadmin?
I’m currently working on my Bachelors in Computer Science. Some ask why. Well, I want to know how computers work at the basic standalone level without the networking. Like how programs work, and how a computer can communicate with us. So far, I have one more year left of school, and I have learned a lot, but I’ve learned quite a bit more on my own as well. I still need more work on programming, but I’m slowing parsing… heh. I do enjoy learning
Since my job requires me to do a lot of networking, especially with programs, I’m not sure I want to pursue a bachelors in CIS like I originally thought. I’m sure there’s tons I don’t know, but maybe I could put that time towards a certificate of some sorts. People are pushing me to get my masters, but I just don’t know. Yes, the degree will help me climb ladders, but I just can’t make up my mind about that.
I’ve recently gained an interest in pentesting. I started out with WiFi hacking, but I don’t really have the resources to crack wpa2 hashes, unless I’m going about it all wrong. Holy smokes…. Wep is so easy to crack, but now I’ve moved towards web-app testing.
Yes. I know. I’m all over the place. I have adhd, and it’s getting late for me. Maybe one day I’ll be able to contribute something worth-while.
Merry Christmas!
