Something like FFXIV, but with equipment that actually affects gameplay?

I like playing ffxiv, but the equipment there only has the basic defense stats, and is otherwise completely identical. Is there a similar game but with gear that changes aspects of gameplay or abilities when worn? Thank you in advance.
