Paycheck Protection Program Loans

For all of you who are business owners, have you read the recommendations for this program? It is designed to keep people on the job/payroll during a crisis. This means that if employers are able to pay this according to certain criteria, the loans will be forgiven. I do not know exactly how this could have happened, since someone had to pay for it - it would no longer be a loan, but a gift. I'm interested in helping employees, but I'm curious about what others who are considering this program think.
