Today, there are lots of software used in software and web development. Some of them are really best and perfect for your software development need. As an IT Student and Professional the first thing that comes to our mind when it comes to software development, we will immediately think of what programming language and what software development tools to use.
Here are some common programming languages used in development:
* Visual Basic Classic/VB6 (undeniable still the no.1 programming language used by the computer students for there school projects).
* C#
* VB.NET
* Java
* C++
* Delphi
* Phyton
Now, from all of the programming languages mention above, I guess you have now an IDE or tools equivalent for that languages, right? In your mind now from the first 3 programming language mention above, you will immediately think of the Microsoft's products. Well, undeniable Microsoft's software products are best and reliable for software development but how about an open source software which has the capability equivalent to those proprietary one.
Well, here are some Open Source Software Tools and Open Source database for your software development
DATABASE
1.) MySQL (The world's most popular open source database) .
2.) PostgreSQL (powerful, open source object-relational database system)
3.) Firebird (ffers excellent concurrency, high performance, and powerful language support for stored procedures and triggers.)
4.) SQLite (most widely deployed SQL database engine in the world.)
5.) WAMP is an open source project, free to use (GPL licence). Windows Apache MySQL PHP.
6.) LAMP
7.) XAMPP an easy to install Apache Distribution for Linux, Windows, Mac OS X, and Solaris.
IDE's
1.) Gambas is an Open Source Rapid Application Development environment for Linux which is based on a Basic interpreter with object extensions, a bit like Visual Basic™.
2.) SharpDevelop is a free IDE for C#, VB.NET and Boo projects on Microsoft's .NET platform.
3.) Mono An open source, cross-platform, implementation of C# and the CLR that is binary compatible with Microsoft.NET.
4.) MonoDevelop is an IDE primarily designed for C# and other .NET languages.
5.) NetBeans IDE an award-winning integrated development environment available for Windows, Mac, Linux, and Solaris.
6.) Eclipse an open source community, whose projects are focused on building an open development platform comprised of extensible frameworks, tools and runtimes for building, deploying and managing software across the lifecycle.
7.) Codeblocks is a cross-platform IDE built around wxWidgets, designed to be extensible and configurable. Runs on Windows and Linux.
8.) Dev-C++ A free C++ IDE for Windows and Linux for MinGW compiler.
9.) Dev-Pascal a full-featured integrated development environment (IDE), which is able to create Windows or console-based Pascal programs using the Free Pascal or GNU Pascal compilers.
10.) Lazarus is a free cross-platform IDE which provides a Delphi-like development experience for Pascal and Object Pascal developers.
11.) Komodo Edit a fast, smart, free and open-source code editor for Perl, Python, Tcl, PHP, Ruby, Javascript
SQL MANAGEMENT TOOLS
1.)phpLiteAdmin is a web-based SQLite database admin tool written in PHP with support for SQLite2 and SQLite3.
2.)SQLite Administrator a powerful tool if you easily want to create, design or administrate SQLite database files.
3.) MySQL Workbench a unified visual tool for database architects, developers, and DBAs. MySQL Workbench provides data modeling, SQL development, and comprehensive administration tools for server configuration, user administration, and much more. MySQL Workbench is available on Windows, Linux and Mac OS.
4.)FlameRobin is a database administration tool for Firebird RDBMS.
5.)pgAdmin is the most popular and feature rich Open Source administration and development platform for PostgreSQL, the most advanced Open Source database in the world.
6.) phpMyAdmin is a free software tool written in PHP intended to handle the administration of MySQL over the World Wide Web.
From all the tools that I mention above, they are those tools that I've known and use in some of my Software Development project since I was in College up to now. They are the tools that I highly recommend for those newbie programmers and IT/ Computer Science Students.
Lesson: LOVE open source,HELP open source, PATRONIZE open source..and USE open source..
