Shamo: Quite a heavy manga, including murder and rape quite early on. The interesting thing about this is you're never sure whether or not you should be rooting for the main character. Plenty of intense, and fairly realistic fights.
Holyland: My personal favourite. The most realistic fighting manga out there, the author had a lot of real fighting experience, working with and explaining different moves and styles within the manga. It revolves around a teenager who is useless and depressed, but ends up becoming a legendary tale among street fighters. This includes fighters from different walks of life using different styles of fighting all coming together to fight on the streets for their own reasons. I really love this one.
Vagabond: Although this one is more about swords, it's worth mentioning anyway. Vagabond is a well known classic which everyone should at least try and read once. Beautiful art, with a slow start that picks up the pace after a few chapters.
All-Rounder Meguru: MMA manga, a little bit more lighthearted than the others but still pretty good nontheless.
Teppuu: Cocky girl who's good at everything finds out she's not that great at martial arts. Not amazing but worth a read.
