• Begin by downloading “Orbot” from the Play Store, as it is essential for routing your traffic through the Tor network.
• Launch Orbot and proceed with the setup without altering any default settings.
• If you have not yet installed your instant messaging client, please do so at this stage.
• Navigate to your phone’s Settings, then to Apps, followed by Manage Apps, and select YourIMApp. From there, revoke all permissions granted to the application. It is important to note that even though your app is routed through Tor, it may still access and store your geographic location and other data on its servers.
• If you possess an existing account, log out of the application. If you do not have an account, proceed to the next step.
• Reopen Orbot and tap the grey onion icon labeled “START.” It will change to yellow and then green, indicating that it is active with the label “STOP.”

  Remember that Orbot must be running for it to function properly. Engaging with the app while Orbot is inactive will expose your IP address to the service, potentially compromising your account.
  To ensure Orbot launches automatically after a phone reset, configure it to open on boot by navigating to Settings, then Apps, followed by Manage Apps, and selecting Orbot to enable Auto Start.
  Be mindful that Orbot may not connect automatically after a restart, so it is prudent to verify the connection.
• Open your IM application and create a new account, as your previous account, which was accessed with your real IP address, should be considered compromised.
