Some people don't know much about these methods but they do exist.
Just writing a little guide because I have time to spare.
Alright, so these ways aren't that great of earning money but if you want to learn legit ways, here are some. They don't pay much but they can pay well in some methods if you utilize the resources correctly.
1. Rev
Rev is a freelancing platform that allows transcriptionists/captionists/translators to get a job there (basically). Transcription rates are terrible (as of now) but they are subjecting to go up later in 2020. Captioning rates are better but it's better if you type fast (70+ WPM atleast). They have a system that lets you earn much more money when you gain a rank. When you start off, you won't be making that much, but once you reach Revver and Revver+, you will be pulling in money. I earned $20 my first week as a Revver, but that's only because I did only 50 minutes of transcription. I didn't do much. You have to apply for these jobs too. A disadvantage is that some scorers are literally aids, and you have to be careful with what you do. And sometimes the audio quality is very terrible. But you can get some good ones. It's a hit or miss site.
Tips for Rev:
- Look for transcription contracts that have the Line editor. Most of the time you will be changing words that the Line bot messes up.
- Follow the guide to have a good standing and an increased chance to pass Revver quickly. It's not that hard.
- If you're working on just transcriptioning without the Line editor, write what you hear and mark a mistake in your typing so you can go back and fix it. It makes it faster than stopping and fixxing your mistake.
Overall, Rev is just a good source of legit income.
2. Amazon mTurk
Amazon mTurk is one I haven't done. But as far as I remember, you basically do these things called HITs and they pay a small amount of money. But here's where the catch comes. If you use Reddit, there are some sources and people that drop good HITs that pay well and a short amount of your time. These can help you gain some money. Bad thing is, all the money goes to your Amazon bank account or whatever they have. But you can send the money to your bank I believe, or something like that. I don't use this method, so take this one cautiously.
3. r/beermoney and r/WorkOnline
These subreddits have some ways of gaining money online. r/beermoney is mostly focused on survey websites, and some survey websites pay a small amount. But over a year, some of these people are pulling in $800 a year from a website. The trick is to use a lot of websites and have a daily/weekly routine for 30 minutes or an hour a day doing some of these surveys. It's boring, but hey, welcome to the internet. Now that's not a lot of money, but keep in mind this is legit work we're talking here. A lot of methods that promise a lot of money are just most of the time bullshitting your time. I'm not saying all of them are wrong, I've used some of the methods that are sketchy and of course, not legit, but they earn money. Back on topic, r/WorkOnline provides legit jobs of professions, if you have experience in those fields. And they have some that don't require much profession in a field.
4. UserTesting
Haven't used this one a whole lot, but it pays well. Some of the things are not worth it, but it's recommended you stay legit and not sketchy as fuck when you're doing testing.
There are a lot of other methods, but these methods are some notable ones. Like I said, they WON'T pay a lot, but they are some ways of earning money if you're bored.
