I held a moderate FTX position and had some funds on the exchange. When everything went down, I tried to transfer my funds but have yet to recover anything. It really bummed me out, and I took an extended break from buying any crypto. About 6 months ago, I resumed buying and there's now a number of reasons I buy crypto without a CEX but mostly the fact that I got burned on FTX. Having your crypto on an exchange just seems too risky for me now. Sometimes it's even cheaper than CEXs with all the hidden swap and withdrawal fees.
Anybody else completely avoiding CEXs?
I used to just use Metamask but since they charge you fees on top, you can save a few % by going straight to the on/off-ramp like kado.money which I use now and has pretty low fees. What do you use? Any other suggestions while avoiding CEXs?
