Hi! In this guide, I’ll walk you through how to upload your custom GIFs and Stickers to Instagram, making them available for anyone to use in comments, stories, and DMs.
This is a MUST for anyone looking to promote their business, art, music, or fashion. Major companies already have their brand GIFs on Instagram, so why not you?
I’ve successfully done this for two different companies, and the process is quite simple. It should take about 30 minutes to set up, though approval may take a few days.
The latest company I did this for has uploaded only 10 GIFs and already has 932.5K total views in just 3 weeks.
What You’ll Need
Step 1: Create a Giphy Account
Head to https://giphy.com/join and sign up using your custom email. Make your username match your company name or domain for consistency.
Step 2: Upload 5 GIFs
Upload five original GIFs related to your business. Need ideas? You can animate your logo using tools like https://photomosh.com/ or create GIFs using Giphy’s own tools. If you sell gummy bears, take a fun picture of gummy bears and animate it!
Step 2.5: Set Your Profile Picture
Create and upload a 6th GIF as your profile picture to keep your brand consistent.
Tip: Keep it simple. Even a logo with different glitch effects counts as multiple GIFs.
Step 3: Apply for a Giphy Brand Channel
Fill out the 30-second application form to request a Brand Channel on Giphy.
Step 4: Wait for Approval
Approval usually takes about a week. If you don’t hear back within three weeks, email Giphy support and ask for a status update. Be sure to ask if they need any additional info from you.
Step 5: Enjoy Your New Giphy Brand Account
Once approved, your GIFs are live and ready for anyone to use on Instagram! The five GIFs you uploaded in Step 2 will be public. You can also upload unrelated GIFs—no worries, they’ll still work.

- Purchase a domain from sites like https://www.namecheap.com/ or https://www.spaceship.com/ for as low as $2/year.
- Set up a custom email, such as contact@ which typically costs between $4 and $10/year.
- Create a basic Instagram or Twitter page.
- Upload a few posts, or buy engagement. For example, I got approved with 5K followers and zero posts!
