Dont leechand like this post please, it took 50 minutes to write this guide. Dont worry, short and easy guide.
This wont make you rich but it can give you a big amount of passively earned money at the end of every month. I earn 90-100 dollars a month for just having my computer on. Light cost is about 5 extra dollars a month in my bill. Monthly estimated profits: 85-95 US dollars
This WONT damage your GPU. In fact, a lot of miners have been using the same GPUs for more than 5 years.
NO, you CANT mine in your CPU.
Not for weak GPUs (nor brain dead people). Least I recommend is an RTX 2060 and 10 brain cells for being profitable. However if you dont have to pay electricity, you will earn profits for sure, no matter what GPU you have.
I'm not going to explain the details of what ethereum mining is and what mining pools are. I'll go straight to the money earning part.
1st. Download
/ your antivirus may detect is as riskware/virus. Crypto miners are considered malicious software by most antivirus, but dont worry, it doesnt have a virus. Its the official t rex miner, widely used by miners from all over the world. If you dont trust me or the official github project I linked there's nothing more I can do for you
2nd. Set up the miner (read the next steps). I recommend using 2miners pool.
3rd. How do I set up the miner? Easy, in the T Rex miner folder, look for ETH-2miners.bat, right click it > edit (it will open the file with notepad)> and change this code ''0x1f75eccd8fbddf057495b96669ac15f8e296c2cd'' for your ethereum address.
*How do I get an ethereum address? I personally recommend opening an account in a crypto exchange, like Kraken, or if you are masochistic, Coinbase, which works too but their customer service is fucking crap and I wouldnt want to have to deal with them. Fuck you coinbase.
You can also use hardware wallets, for more info https://ethereum.org/en/wallets/ in where you can choose what features do you want your wallet to have and you will get recommendations based on your preferences.
Now that you have your ethereum wallet address (If you dont, just select ''deposit/receive'' in whatever exchange/wallet you are using. You will be given a code that looks similar to this: 0x1f75eccd8fbddf057495b96669ac15f8e296c2cd. That's your ethereum wallet address, that's where you will receive your rewards for mining).
4th. After replacing the default address in ETH-2miners.bat with your own address, you are ready for mining. Save the changes, disable firewall and execute ETH-2miners.bat
5th. Done, you are mining. You can check your ETH rewards in https://2miners.com/ by pasting your ethereum wallet address in the top of the page miner browser. It may take 10-20 minutes since you start mining for it to appear in the web.
6th. When you earn enough ethereum sell it for money in a exchange. Easy peasy
Extra: you can overclock your GPU with MSI afterburner for some extra hashing power.
I use RTX 2080 Super. With MSI afterburner I set power limit to 50%, memory clock to +1300 MHz and fan speed to 40%. This gives me a hashrate of 40-45 MH/s at 40º-50º celsius temperatures. T Rex miner will tell you your hashrate all the time.
For best results, undervolt the card and oveclock the memory.
For biggest profits let your computer mining 24/7. Dont worry, it will be fine as long as it doesnt reach excessive temperatures.
Can I play games while mining? Yes, but it will result in lower hashing power (therefore less profits) and lower framerates in your games. Mining is a heavy task for your GPU.
