So today, I will show you how criminals are making really easy money of ratting people and how
to protect you against that.
What is ratting?
Ratting is where someone installs a malicious file on your device, most of the times
without you knowing. This can be done by making the target download a sketchy file.
Ratters make money in multiple ways, by stealing and selling information, mining crypto on
the target's device or ransoming him.
How do people get ratted?
The first method is by making the user believe they can get an exclusive software, like a free video game
cheat, a cracked software or a tool, the downloaded file then installs a rat onto the target's device. The second method
is much more deadly and includes getting the target to download an image that will secretly run a backdoor on the target's device.
For the third method, the hacker pyschically puts a malicious USB or cable into your device, that then will automatically run a file to give you
a virus. This is the most tricky method to avoid.
How do ratters make money?
The easiest method ratters make money, is by making the rat mine crypto. On average, one device can make $0.50 to $1 a day. If a criminal infects
1000 devices (which is suprisingly easy). They can make an automated $500 to $1000 a day. The second way is by getting the rat to steal things
like cookies, emails and passwords and then selling (or using) that data. The third way is where a hacker gets your files or search history and says
you have to send him $X in BTC or he will delete all your files or leak your pictures and search history on the internet. A hacker can easily make $200 to
$500 per device, even trough most targets probaly wouldn't end up paying.

The danger of ratting is that pretty much anyone can just search for a HQ open source rat on Github (like D.C. rat 2.0 my mooma825). They than can
fool or bait people into downloading a file and then make easy passive income or around $100 to $500 per target. Most of them, will never get in serious
trouble, unless they're unlucky and rat Donald Trump or something
