Everyone who plays WoW has missed a long ass queue at some point or another. Whether you have to make a bathroom deposit, or you're running through to the kitchen to grab some munchies you run the risk of losing your long awaited position in queue.
There are two different methods that I've found work very well for improving your queuing experience.
First is how to hold your place. Keep in mind this will only work at level 100.
1. Join whatever queues you'd like to join.
2. If for whatever reason you have to leave your computer, hearth to your garrison and join the "Proving Grounds" scenario by talking to the NPC located close to your command table. (Alliance side is Lieutenant Thorn)
3. Stay inside the proving grounds until you return and are able to continue. Once you want to rejoin your queue, just leave the instance group!
Second is how to get faster queues. It only works out for you if you plan on doing multiple LFR or BGs.
1. Queue up for the LFR/BGs of your choice.
2. Wait until you get your first queue pop up.
3. Complete your instance and leave the instance group. When you return you'll have a faster (or in many cases instant) queue to the next ones after. Feel free to chain them and join more queues as you complete instances
There may be alternative methods that I've not thought of so if you have ideas or find one yourself please include your finds
