Hardentools is a collection of simple utilities designed to disable a number of “features” for operating systems (Microsoft Windows, for now) and first-party consumer applications. These features, commonly thought of for Enterprise customers, are often useless for regular users and are instead welcomed, for example, which are heavily abused by attackers for executing malicious code on victim computers. The intent of this tool is simply to reduce the attack surface by disabling low-hanging fruit. Hardentools is aimed at people at risk, who may want an extra level of security at the price of usability. It is not intended for corporate environments.
