Gitrecon – Perfect OSINT Tool For Github

Hey Folks, in this tutorial we are going to introduce a new information gathering tool specifically designed for OSINT on Gitub accounts. Gitrecon tool has been made to get information from a Github or Gitlab profile and find user’s email addresses leaked on commits. You can go here for more information.

Installation of Gitrecon

The tool is completely free which you can download using the git clone command. Once downloaded, go the directory of this tool and install required dependencies by executing the python command.

cd gitrecon/
python3 -m pip install -r requirements.txt123git clone
https://github.com/GONZOsint/gitrecon.gitcd gitrecon/python3-mpip install-rrequirements.txt

Done !! The tool has been installed and now you can see all the features of the tool through the help command and control it easily.

Github Reconnaissance

Now all you need to do is give the username of the gihtub user in the command and it will automatically detect it and dump all the data in front of you. As you are seeing this has dumped all the information available on the gihtub account of that user.

python3 gitrecon.py < username > -s github1python3 gitrecon.py<username>-sgithub

Hmm !! This gives us the correct information as it is showing the same avatar that has been uploaded to that user’s github account.

Good !! We take another example to test whether it works well or not and we get some unique information in our another attempt such as : telegram group link etc.

So basically the tool provides us good information about any gihtub account.
