First time SE, really confused with websites/books. Any guidance helps :)

Hey just reading and absorbing as much info as can. Since im straight rookie i first started with Bobs, really easy read said DNA and EB still works but of course, had been used for a while and FTID is the way to go. Then i was referred to this website and its calling it garbage ( https://www.socialengineers.net/2022/01/the-ftid-method-facts.html ). Now ive been reading posts a while ago saying FTID (from bobs EBOOK leak) is not the way to go as people have been arrested as it is a felony to mess with labels?
TBH im just hella confused on wtf is a dated resource i should use to begin my learning.
