So, today I was looking for a free VPN service that also provides a premium option so I can upgrade. But I was mainly using the VPN to try and see if I could get a Swiss based app that isn't accessible anywhere else at this current time. So when I installed the Google Chrome extension, I went an geolocated my IP to see if the VPN works. Now, before you say "You should've expected this from a free VPN" - Yes, I should've but, it's premium option for the VPN claims to have:
4096-BIT KEY ENCRYPTION
Now, for whatever reason, I can't say that this is fake as I don't know anyone that owns the service. But, if you have key encryption that large, you should not be logging. Why? Because that large BIT length would be to protect you against literally anything because as far as we all know here, super computers haven't been created successfully yet to even crack this large key. What I meant by 'you should not be logging' was that literally the only because accessing your data would be the service owners unless they gave the keys to someone else outside of DotVPN. But anyway, back to the story; why the fuck would you have a VPN service, offer a premium feature that claims to use a massive BIT KEY length but still log? And also, when I geolocated my IP, it went back to this http://www.senderbase.org/lookup/host/?search_string=enterprise.spreitzer.ch. Read the description on that. Yes, it may not show in the description they log, but, it monitors everyone that uses the service. This is really ironic too because on the website browser extension, you have the option to disable tracking and analytic's.
Conclusion: Should you pay or even use DotVPN for illegal or general use? NO! Absolutely not. 1) They lie, 2) They log, 3) They are a scam.
Don't forget to share this with people looking for a VPN or currently using DotVPN.
Thanks!
