Today I will be explaining to you guys as shortly as possible as to why you shouldn't be buying RATs(in most cases). I'm going to start off by saying this is by no means a sales trash, I am simply speaking from a historical perspective, where a ton of users have been fugged. If the seller of your favorite RAT takes proper measures to ensure his users are fully protected, then by all means, purchase the RAT.
Take this as an example: Say we have a RAT called 'Sem RAT'. And I'm selling it to as many users as possible because I want to make as much money as possible. To ensure I'm constantly making money over a longer period of time, I'll probably use monthly/quarterly packages in the RAT.
Now, MOST paid RATs aren't just a pay-> you get a download. It's either HWID or user:password authentication. This means that this information is stored in a database somewhere, and your computer/server is directly accessing that database. That database record must also contain your payment information to ensure the HWID/User:pass has an active subscription to access the software.
Here's where it gets dirty: Sem RAT becomes more and more popular, and more users are infecting people with malicious intent. Sooner or later, it will catch the eye of security agencies in which the piece of malware is affecting the population. That security agency WILL eventually find a way to somehow shut down the RAT and figure out who is abusing the software. It has happened MANY times, which is why you never really see RATs in the marketplace for too long, it's simply because the owner runs the risk of being fugged legally, and may agree to comply with feds and hand the customer data over.
When the customer data is handed over ---> You're fugged. Sure you can use BTC and that would make it harder for them to trace you, but who knows what seller is storing in the customer database, 99% of the time the user wouldn't know. Not only that, if feds get complete access to the RAT, they can push custom updates as well, which once again == You're fugged.
And for people that think that using BTC is 100% safe, you need a reality check. Several governments across the world have tools to more effectively trace and follow bitcoin transactions. Obviously, it's still a lot safer to use bitcoin than other currencies, the point is that you shouldn't just rely on bitcoin to keep you secure.
We've all seen stuff like this happen with all sorts of paid malware and is why you should never use a centralized piece of malware, unless: you know exactly what is being stored, you know the server where your data is being hosted is at an offshore site with with strong data privacy laws, and you'll know the exact instance when the creator of the malware gets raided. These conditions, although practically never met, will create a safe scenario.
I'd recommend: Use public/open-source RAT's. I can almost guarantee you they have the same features, just may be a lot slower/outdated. But since they are open-sourced, you can pick up a programming language and tweak the code your self. Or better yet, code your OWN RAT.
If you still want to buy a RAT simply because of it's 'already built and stable' infrastructure, then I suggest you do your research on the RAT itself: what information they are storing about a user, how they are storing user information, how does the software handle updates, are they willing to be compliant with the feds based on their TOS, etc. Ask yourselves questions like these
tl;dr: Don't buy paid RATS. Don't know what data seller stores. If raided. feds get data. feds push updates. your fugged. These RAT sellers don't know what their getting themselves into nowadays. NEVER BUY CENTRALIZED MALWARE.This also applies to all programs that has licensing system.
