Differences between hash algorithms?

hey guys, so for those who don't know, i'm learning veracrypt, and i'm trying to learn the differences between the 4 different hash algorithms offered in veracrypt. Now i understand what a hash algorithm is, and what it does in the context of a key derivation function, but what i'm trying to understand is what the differences are between the 4 different options
in veracrypt there is SHA512, SHA256, WHIRLPOOL and STREEBOG
