It has been discovered by Adobe’s screening team that there has been some suspicious activity in its network. Not only there has been a security breach but the customer data is stolen as well.
As per the reports following information about more than 2.9 million customers has been stolen from Adobe’s records.
• Adobe Customer ID
• Customer Name
• Encrypted Password
• Encrypted Debit Card Numbers
• Encrypted Credit Card Numbers
• Card Expiration Dates
It is also reported that other customer information has also been taken away but there has been no confirmation in this regard by Adobe so far. However, the information listed above is not something to be taken lightly. Adobe is claiming that there are no signs of access to any decrypted data at all, however the worrying thing about this fact is that, Adobe is accepting to save some of its data in decrypted form.
Many of you may be wondering how you can know if your account was hacked. Adobe is sending password reset emails to all the accounts that were compromised in the hacking spree. Make sure to change your password even if Adobe doesn’t send you an email to do so. Keep in mind that you may be contacted by someone claiming to be from Adobe is as the hackers may have your information by now. If you receive any email/ letter claiming to be from Adobe, make sure that it is actually from the company.
It must be noted here that only encrypted credit/ debit card numbers were stolen from Adobe’s database but company will be contacting all those customers whose information was accessed by hackers separately. To cover any of your losses Adobe is offering a 1-year credit monitoring service membership on complimentary basis. They will also guide you about how to keep your account secure and avoid card fraud.
