Chocolate sushi, also known as chocolate sushi rolls, is a creative and fun dessert.
Ingredients:
For the Rice Crispy Base:
- 3 cups chocolate rice cereal (e.g., Cocoa Krispies)
- 2 1/2 cups mini marshmallows
- 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
For the "Fish" and "Seaweed":
- 8-10 fruit roll-ups (for the seaweed)
- Gummy candies (for the "fish" – you can use Swedish Fish, gummy worms, or any colorful gummy candies)
Instructions:
Prepare the Rice Crispy Base:
In a large microwave-safe bowl, melt the butter and mini marshmallows in the microwave for about 1-2 minutes, stirring every 30 seconds until smooth.
Add the chocolate rice cereal to the melted marshmallow mixture and stir until well combined.
Shape the Rice Crispy Base:
Lay out a sheet of wax paper or parchment paper on a clean surface.
Place the rice cereal mixture onto the paper and flatten it into a rectangle, about 1/4 inch thick.
Assemble the "Sushi Rolls":
Lay out a fruit roll-up flat on the wax paper, and place a strip of the rice cereal mixture along one edge, leaving a small border of fruit roll-up on each side.
Place your gummy candies along the center of the rice cereal strip to resemble the "fish."
Roll and Cut:
Carefully roll the fruit roll-up and rice cereal mixture into a log, similar to a sushi roll. Press the edges to seal.
Use a sharp knife to slice the roll into bite-sized "sushi" pieces.
Repeat and Serve:
Repeat the process with the remaining ingredients, creating as many chocolate sushi rolls as desired.
Optional Garnish:
If you like, you can use white chocolate chips melted in the microwave to drizzle on top of your chocolate sushi rolls for added flair.
