Hello,
This recipe actually requires no cooking and is so easy that even any basement dweller can do it if their mom stops making them chicken nuggies.
Today I'm sharing a common recipe that will yeild two servings, that if I recall correctly will each fit into a 8oz mason jar or one 16oz.
Requirements:
  • Mason/Ball jar(s), 2x 8 oz or 1x 16oz. I suggest two 8oz as it makes it easier to keep track of calories etc. A fridge.
  • Large bowl to mix ingredients in (you don't need a blender, just a spoon and 10 seconds of stirring)
Ingredients (put all into bowl and mix by hand with spoon for like 10 seconds):
  • Oats (1 cup).Generally rolled oats work best but you can use steel-cut oats as they are more nutritious but their lack of surface area doesn't work well with this recipe.
  • Milk (1 cup). Personally I prefer using oat milk, not just because its an oat based meal, but I prefer full-fat oat milk to dairy. Up to you.
  • Vanilla Extract (1/2 teaspoon). You know the stuff that comes in a small bottle? That's what you want.
  • Cinnamon (1/2 teaspoon). Or just a dash of it into the bowl.
  • Brown Sugar (1 tablespoon).
  • Maple Syrup (1 table spoon).
Just put all of the ingredients into a mixing bowl and add the ingredients. The order doesn't really matter but the order above works well because you can lessen the amount or remove the maple syrup and brown sugar if you are trying to make it lower Calorie count.
Once mixed, use a ladle (thats what I use) to scoop it into two small 8oz mason jars or one large one. This recipe makes two servings which is why I recommend using the two smaller jars. The recipe can be scaled up by doubling/tripling/quadrupling the amounts.
The last step is to put it in the fridge overnight. Or if made in early morning, they'd be ready by end of day. I generally give them a minimum of 8-10 hours to sit in fridge.
After waiting overnight they are done! the oats often rise to the top and just before eating I generally mix everything in the jar around with a spoon.
The Calorie count on each serving is very low (I believe this recipe would be around 200~) and is very filling.
Enjoy, and feel free to ask any questions!
