Valve announced that they are seeking proposals for the mid-2018 CS:GO Major Championship and revealed that they plan to select a proposal by the end of November.Even though it is unsure if the Major will be publicly announced as soon as it is decided upon, this would still be a massive change in the time frame in which the Major is awarded. In the past, the upcoming Major was only selected after the current one finished, with, for example, about two months passing between the end of the PGL Krakow Major and the upcoming ELEAGUE 2018 one being announced. This speedup should allow both tournament organizers and teams to have more time to prepare for the Major than they had before.
Valve intends to run the 13th CS:GO Major in a fashion similar to the upcoming ELEAGUE 2018 one—combining the main qualifier, group stage and the playoffs into a continuous event—and are looking to kick it off at the end of August or the beginning of September.
Companies that ran CS:GO Majors in the past, such as PGL, DreamHack and ESL, are expected to send in their proposals once again, with the likes of EPICENTER and StarLadder also likely to give a shot at securing a Major—which would be their first.
