The difference in skill level between two Silver players is too much too often. You have a mix of players that know the game but can't play it (or can only play one role), others that are as skilled as a Platinum but have no teamwork, no knowledge and/or a shitty attitude. Most of the time it's a coin toss.
The only way you can get to Gold without carrying yourself every game is to be able to be the deciding factor every time the game is close. I'd say 15-20% of my games can swing one way or another at the 25 minute mark (which sadly means that 80-85% of my games are over before that point).
Obviously if you can get fed every game, do it. Otherwise, just know that unless you are very lucky, it is going to be a slow grind.
